Coalition to hold press conference on family, care, and gender equality referendum

The National Women’s Council, SIPTU, One Family, Treoir, and Family Carers Ireland will host a press conference to highlight the importance of getting the wording right for the upcoming referendum

What: Press Conference on the planned referendum on family, care, and gender equality – Coalition of five civil society organisations (NWC, Treoir, One  Family, Family Carers Ireland, and SIPTU)

When:                Thursday, 7^th September 2023, 10 – 11 am

Where:               Buswells Hotel, Molesworth Street, Dublin 2 

Speakers will include:

·        Orla O’Connor, National Women’s Council

·        Damien Peelo, Treoir 

·        Ethel Buckley, SIPTU 

·        Catherine Cox, Family Carers Ireland

In addition, we will hear a number of personal testimonies of people who will outline why this referendum is important to them and how it will impact their lives.  The press conference follows an open letter of the organisations to the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar in August 2023.
